Moving Websites

Sometimes I just don’t have enough time in the day. Between my kids and work there isn’t much time left.

School just started up again so that means homework that I have to help with. With the start of school is also the start of sports in the fall. This takes up three nights a week now. Then to top it all off, we are just starting the new scouting year. Lots of things to do in my off time.

Of course the hurricanes don’t help much. Fortunately, we were spared the brunt of hurricane Katrina. We are good here but those in Biloxi and New Orleans weren’t so lucky. If you can see to giving, please do so. Doesn’t have to be monentary. Can be in every day items and things for infants. Check with your local Red Cross. I would be highly suspicious of anything online.

Alright, enough about that and on to the topic.

Now, I have been saying that I would be moving my websites over to a dedicated server.

Websites? What do you mean websites?

Well there are about 10 websites that I maintain. I am trying to consolidate them to all on one server that I can load what I would like on them. Bad thing is that I don’t know alot about Linux/Apache still so the going is slow. And I don’t want to have to pay $75 dollars everytime I need something fixed.

I have most things fixed now with one exception at the moment. I’m having trouble compiling php. So I do not have the functionality I would like. Or the functionality that is required for the games on Orpgs.com.

I don’t need that for Karealia though so that has been started to a point. I will eventually start building a website for it. But the game server is up and running at the moment.

Yeah, I know. I am getting it done as quick as I can. I want to be absolutely certain that everything works right before I move the games over. So that may mean that it doesn’t really get done until next year.

Right now, the server is costing me more than it is bringing in. Even if I factor all of the sites on and off of the server, it still costs more. Hopefully that will change by March or April.

It is a slow process, so bear with me.
