Legend of the Green Dragon
It is kinda funny. You spend a significant amount of time producing code for a game that is great. Yet if you go up and just suddenly leave a community that you really didnt’ like all that well to begin with they all of a sudden think you are some horrible monster.
Sure, I have lots of code that I have tweaked and changed. Various modules that I have modified. I even put my name in the credits so that anyone can see which those were. No one has bothered asking me for a changed file except for one person. Yet, now I am the demon who is “stealing” and not paying attention to the CCL.
One even noted my saying at the top of the blog. “Take what you can and give nothing back”. I guess those 15 modules I have created and release really amount to nothing. Of course, if they knew anything about movies they would really understand that this is from the Disney movie “Pirates of the Carribean”. So I suppose I can not fault them for ignorance.
As for modules I have for sale. Sure, I have modules for sale. I plan on having another here shortly. These modules do not need another module to run. Let me quote something from Kendear on this.
as long as your module doesn’t rely on any other modules (even one of your own — since at that point it’s no longer seperable!) and doesn’t require any changes to the core code, it COULD be released as a commercial add-on if you desired.
For your reading pleasure, you can find the pertinent thread here. Near the bottom of the page.
Then they go on to mention that I am working with someone who they are adamantly opposed to. To quote:
Dannic(yes he does work with them)
Sure, I have looked at modules that they have “supposedly” created and fixed their bugs. But worked with them? Get real. I don’t do anything for them other than fix their stupid syntax errors which they could find themselves if they so desired. As far as the content of the modules, I never bothered looking at it closely. Wasn’t interested in what they were producing. And I don’t even think I have done that for them since June. So please get your facts straight before you start.
Gee, you fix six files for someone and now you are working with them.
As far as providing a download link. Well, that’s just laziness on my part. I’m sure if you ask nicely though, I could be persueded to provide one. Though with the remarks I have seen that will have to be awful nice. I’ll email you anything you want off of my module list except for those which are not publicly available. Sorry but those will remain publicly unavailble at this point.
Nothing says I have to make them downloadable anyway. Check the license if you have problems with this.
Don’t bother asking me what I modified because I honestly dont’ have a clue in most cases. My memory is like a sieve. I have to look at it myself to tell you. I suspect that in most cases it is pretty obvious. In others it probably has to do with alignment or lays. Either way, Ask and ye shall recieve. If you don’t ask, I have other things to do.
Oh, that goes with the actual game code too. Since I am in the process of modifying that as well. No, I have no intention of turning on the source.php file. I deleted that code from the core so it won’t do any good. However, if you would like to be patient , I will put the code up for download once I get it to the point I am happy with it the first time around. If not, email me or send me a message I’ll zip it up and let you figure it out. More than likely it won’t work for you if you use translations or several other various features I do not use.
Now, as to why I left…
Well, just look at the posted comments about me. Why would I want to stay in an environment such as that. Sorry but the last poster who commented on something I was helping with should bear the entire brunt of the blame for this. Funny thing is, this was also the only person who was nice enough to ask for the changes I did to their module and hasn’t said anything disparaging about my character. At least none that I can find.
As bad as all this sounds, I will continue to release modules to the community but not at Dragonprime.net. If you want a particular module that I have which you cannot find or is not for public consumption, just ask. Nicely at that. You might be surprised by the answer you get. They will all be moved to my main site at Orpgs.com to the downloads section eventually.
If you want to attack my character, feel free to do so. Just not here. Go to Dragonprime.net. They seem to revel in that at the moment.
Oh, and please point out anywhere I have violated the CCL as is stated in the license.txt file. I will have that fixed immediately.
