DragonCon 2006
Yes, it is that time of the year. It is time to start planning for a trip to DragonCon.
This will be the first one that I have a very good chance of actually attending since moving back to florida from Atlanta. Used to attend every year while in Atlanta. It is always a blast and from the looks of the events listed on the DragonCon website, there are some new events that should be quite cool.
If you don’t know what DragonCon is, it is a giant get together of people who like science fiction and fantasy. It started out as a small convention of about 5K around 1987 and now draws crowds of over 60k.
It was all about Dungeons and Dragons then. Not any more. Check out the website yourself.
One of the more memorable times I had was when I met Lou Ferigno. The dude is huge….. REALLY huge.
Can’t forget to mention some of the… er…. models either.
Of course I always take any books with me that the authors will be attending. Great way to increase the value of my hard back books by getting them signed.
Anyway, it’s planning time. I want to get in before the darn ticket prices go up. Next window closes in May so I have a month to get my friends together and gather the money up. If you are interested in going yourself or are already planning on attending, drop me a line and maybe we can hook up and party or something. I know the area quite well(lived in Atlanta 7 years) and can generally find some interesting things to do when the Con is a little slow.
That and we can always share a room if you need to help with the costs of the hotel. Darn things are expensive.
