Not sure how many know that I am working on a Dating site.  Well, I’ve been working on it for awhile actually.  Never seem to get much accomplished since it is hard to compete in the cut-throat world of online dating.

I started the dating site not long after here.  Though I was trying to do it from scratch.  Learned quite a bit since then but I haven’t had time to work on it with there being very few new users even though it is free.

A good percentage of new users I get are spammers looking to bilk people out of money.  The way I had it was very good to actually be able to find and disable those idiots.  They are far and few between now.

The actual coding wasn’t all that difficult either.  Just never set up a payment module to add to the site.  I think that would have gotten me a few more visitors who stuck around than what I have currently.

Believe it or not, I actually do have some semi-regular users on it.  Not quite as regular as I would like but it is growing.  Just too slow for my tastes.  Of course, it would help if I actually advertised.

I recently changed the software running the site.  Another quite frustrating deal as the methods were extremely different.  I went with a public gpl software that I could use.  It seems to be a bit better in some areas and needs improvement in quite a few others.  But the integration with lots of things I do want is what got me going on this.

Not sure what I can do to advertise it cheaply.  Since I am not earning any money on it currently, any money I spend on it will be completely out of my pocket.  I have a couple of ideas I am currently toying with but I have no clue if any will actually bring in more users.

I guess I could always pay for traffic.  But I find those services a bit dodgy and not very effective in actually bringing in new users.

Affiliates seem to work but I can’t afford to pay affiliates if they bring in free people.
