Movie Review - Talladega Nights
Finally got in to see this movie. Had to wait a week. Not normally a fan of Will Ferrell but I had to see it on recommendations of my coworkers.
Ricky Bobby(Will Ferrell) is a Nascar driver who knows nothing but winning. That is until he gets beat by a frenchman. Thus begins a comedy of his recovery to beat the frenchmen.
One of the funniest parts in the movie is also shown in the previews. But the previews do not do that part any justice. You may have seen where he stabs himself with the knife because he is convinced he is paralyzed. It is only slightly funny in the previews but you will laugh your ass off when you see it in the theatre.
The two boys(Texas and Walker Ranger) are little hellions who do nothing more than provide even more comedic relief than any specific character development. I can certainly say I’d have a real problem with the attitudes and mouths on those two boys if they happend to be mine. But the script they provide makes for some of the funniest moments themselves.
I would have to say that I was pleasntly suprised by this movie. I thought it would be extremely stupid on the lines of Dumb and Dumberer. However, it provided some genuine and original comedy that I haven’t seen in some time with comedies of this nature. It should appeal quite well to Racing Fans as well as anyone who isn’t. I’m glad I finally saw it.
Overall, I will have to give this a good rating. The comedy was good and it was a fast paced movie that kept you laughing. This gets my highest rating of full price movie. Probably a movie I will look forward to purchasing when it is released on DVD.
