Roleplaying

You have your new character. You just finished creating that level 1 ranger of the elven kind. What now?

Well, you can do a couple of things. One of them is to just believe that it is a disposable character. Something you can get rid of if it doesn’t work out to how you like. Or you can develop the character into something you can act out and others will see you as that character. You can role play your character.

What exactly is Role Playing?

Well, Role Playing is basically taking a character and giving it a story and acting out that story for others. Actors do this all the time in the various movies and television shows you may see. They act out a part that was scripted for that specific movie or show. When we talk about Role Playing in the sense of the Fantasy world, it isn’t much different than being an actor except you have control over the development of your character.

For some people, this is exactly what they want to do. It is a way to release some creativity and have fun doing it. They probably would like to get into acting or something similar but just can’t find the time or the right circumstances to be able to do so. For others it might be a way to escape daily frustrations and stress of the mundane.

I thought of making this a tutorial at one point.  Maybe people can get a good idea on what might be considered good Role Playing.  Or different types of role playing.  One of my users has sent me an email about this and provided a rudimentary tutorial.  It needs a little polish, but it could be incorporated into the tutorials section of the website.  I may still do that.
